I very rarely paint from photographs, but I started this painting in 1990 from a photo I took in Italy. Recently, I found this unfinished painting in a closet and thought it would be fun to see it completed. I don’t know what happened to the little photo, but I enjoyed working with the gestures of the figures huddled under the umbrellas at the market. The colors, shapes, and figures created a joyful painting experience.
