'The Hunt for Red October' featuring Dennis McGonagle, July 9 - Aug 31, 2007 The City of Whittier Cultural Arts Commission presents "The Hunt for Red October," an exhibit featuring paintings by Dennis McGonagle .
"In October of 2006, my wife and I traveled to Millville, Pennsylvania, where we lived in a cabin in the woods for a month. I found the landscape, with its brilliant fall colors very stimulating to my creativity. I immediately set to work on a series of paintings in my signature plein air style, working from six to eight hours a day, seven days a week. There was something sublime about the quiet rural setting that I was determined to capture in my work. I would step out of my cabin every morning into a magical landscape and see potential paintings everywhere I looked. Whether it was a covered bridge, an old hunting lodge, or the forest itself, I found the scenery very compelling. "The Hunt for Red October" is a visual record of my experience during this artist's retreat." -- Dennis McGonagle
This exhibit will be on display July 9 through August 31, 2007 at Parnell Park Community and Senior Center, 15390 Lambert Rd., Whittier, CA.

Whittier artists’, Glen Eisner, (special effects sculptor/ Otis art instructor) and Holly Overin, (illustrator, plein air painter/ private art teacher) have brought their explorations in individual portrayals of Paleontological study together for a showing of paintings and dioramas in the Nixon room at Whittier Central branch Library.
On view are scenes recreating the lives of both mammals and Dinosaurs from bygone epochs in their native habitat of planet Earth. Glen and Holly’s Artworks can be seen through November and December. Be sure to come by the library and enquire about viewing unique depictions of these rare beasts and lizards.
