The Whittier Art Gallery is proud to present:
Christy Johnson
Friday, September 17, 2010 from 7 - 10pm
It is a pleasure to have Christy Johnson as our speaker. Christy comes to us from AMOCA, The American Museum of Ceramic Art which is located in Pomona she is Director & Curator. Christy will be speaking about the post-World War II Los Angeles art scene.
The J. Paul Getty Foundation is sponsoring over 30 cultural institutions to launch an unprecedented series of concurrent exhibitions at museums throughout Southern California. These exhibitions will be highlighting the post-World War II Los Angeles art scene; they will begin in 2011 as part of the initiative Pacific Standard Time.
The exhibitions and the events that will accompany them as part of PST will demonstrate the pivotal role played by Southern California in national and international artistic movements since the middle of the twentieth century. The American Museum of Ceramic Art is among the first 15 institutions that received research and planning grants for exhibitions beginning in fall 2011. AMOCA is researching and planning for an exhibition of post-WWII Los Angeles area ceramics entitled, Common Ground: Ceramics in Southern California 1945-1975.
Please join us at the Gallery to meet and hear this very knowledgeable speaker and talented artist CHRISTY JOHNSON
