Lucy Breeden: Collage
To make these collages, I started by applying color to poster board using alcohol inks. Sometimes I stamped the color on in layers and sometimes I dropped ink on the board and then blew it into irregular lines with a straw. I drew the picture on the back of the colored poster board, cut it out, and glued it onto black construction paper or white bookmark blanks. What attracts me to this method is the extreme vibrancy of the alcohol inks, and the way they can be layered to create depth of color and texture.
In October 2011, I gave a demonstration of this medium at the Whittier Public Library as part of a program hosted by the Whittier Art Association.
